Nowadays, there’s a very positive trend that has been gaining track over the last couple of years, and it’s speaking things into existence. Basically, it means you should declare the things you want in life because if you work hard, they’ll eventually come by.

Nobody is sure if young James Harden had heard about this, but he declared his own superstardom in what at the time looked like a meaningless note a little kid left to his mother one night.

Could you wake me up at 7:00? And could you leave me a couple of dollars?” says the note followed by Harden’s signature. “P.S. Keep this paper, Imma be a star.” And become a star he did.

Harden has now led the league in scoring for three straight seasons, and his accolades include an MVP award, eight All-Star games, seven All-NBA selections, and an assists championship.

To celebrate his 2018 MVP, Adidas released a new Harden signature shoe and a commercial titled ‘Imma be a star’ that features Harden’s mother, Monja Williams, reading a short letter of her own in answer to Harden’s note. “You were dreaming big then,” said Williams in the commercial. “But when you left me that note, ‘Keep this paper, Imma be a star’ you were already my brightest star. And now, you’re showing everyone else.”

This is just another example of why we should all write down our goals and dream big; because one day, and when we least expect it, we’ll be living those dreams.
