After capturing a pair of championships in Miami and one in Cleveland, it seems as though Lebron James still has to prove himself even in season seventeen.

This, despite all of those championship runs, coming with being named Finals MVP.

Justifiably compared to Michael Jordan, the one area that James is lacking is in the amount of championship hardware that Jordan had claimed. Although he reached the NBA Finals for eight consecutive seasons and nine overall, a 3-6 record leaves fans questioning his greatness.

After missing the postseason for the first time since the 2005-06 season, James has bounced back with an MVP worthy effort in his second season with the LA Lakers and appears primed to help lead the purple and gold to their 17th championship banner.

While Robert Horry and John Salley have claimed three championships with three different teams, neither was the prominent figure James is nor were they in any conversation for an NBA Finals MVP.

With the Lakers, just a series victory away from having the opportunity to play for their first championship since 2010, the weight of Laker Nation rests squarely on James' broad shoulders.

Yes, Jordan won six titles in six attempts, but James is on the road to accomplish a feat that "His Airness" never did during his NBA career by winning a championship with three different teams and while doing so, being named the Finals MVP.

Sadly, people may still have trouble looking past history to appreciate the greatness that is currently on display right before their eyes.
